Governor Tom Corbett will unveil his complete budget proposal during his budget address on February 5. While the specifics of the proposal are usually tightly guarded leading up to the address, the governor has made public comments indicating there is reason to be optimistic about the state’s future.
The governor’s first two budgets were presented with a backdrop of reduced state revenues, increased pension obligations and the governor’s pledge not to increase taxes. Recently, in response to one reporter’s inquiry, the governor stated that by living within the means of the state budget over the last two fiscal cycles, he believes the state is seeing “the fruits of some very difficult decisions.”
